    I think it’s really annoying the whole stigma that’s placed on “unfollowing” someone on tumblr.

    For some reason there’s this idea that if you unfollow someone it means you HATE THEIR GUTS and their blog MAKES YOU VOMIT and they as a person just TOTALLY DISGUST YOU. And that is silly!! It’s perfectly reasonable to unfollow someone with no ill will because their blog just isn’t something you’re into anymore!

    In reality, you can still be friends with someone without following someone on tumblr! Unfollowing someone DOESN’T MEAN you hate them, just as much as them unfollowing you doesn’t mean they hate you!

    It’s just a matter of interests. Sometimes people aren’t always interested in the same things! You may be interested in gay porn and blogging about politics all the time, but those aren’t really things I’m into, but I still like you as a person if that is what you want to blog about! Expecting people to follow you and have things they are uninterested in on their dashboard in order for you to be allowed to stay friends is rather silly!

    Let’s not be dramatic and all take a moment to understand that unfollowing is not the same as burning bridges or declaring the end of a friendship!!

    Aa, this is true. I know some good friends of mine don’t follow me because I reblog and post tons and tons of Homestuck. It doesn’t signify the end of a friendship, it just means we have different interests.

    Please don’t take it personally if I unfollow you, it really is just a matter of what’s on your blog isn’t really what I’m into. D:

    Yeah this. I unfollow a lot of people that I really know and like in real life. Maybe their internet persona is annoying. Maybe they don’t post the thing I followed them for anymore. But mostly, I want my dash to be made up of only things I want to look at. That’s the point of a dash, right? I’m not gonna tell someone to stop posting it because it annoys ME, I’m just not gonna subscribe to looking at it. u_u

    It really bothers me that so many people get so offended when someone unfollows them and they usually respond with either “OMG, WAT DID I DO WRONG?! Y DO U HATE ME NOW? I’LL TRY TO BE A BETTER BLOG FOR YOU.” or “What a loser for unfollowing me. YOU’RE the one’s who missing out now.” The first of those reactions seems to suggest the blogger assumes they’re responsible for appeasing their followers and you, (the blogger) weren’t good enough for them, (your followers) - I say post whatever you want; you don’t have to give a shit about who follows you. The second is just rude because it suggests the opposite: those followers weren’t good enough for you. I’m honestly afraid of unfollowing people sometimes even if they post nothing but stuff I don’t care about at all because, based on their reactions to other people who have unfollowed them in the past, they’ll take it personally and get all butthurt… which is dumb. :T
